Daily At-Home Project: Handprint Bouquets!
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had time to enjoy the weekend. I was able to get out of town and enjoy some socially distanced sunshine. What a difference a bit of Vitamin D makes!
With Mother's Day on the horizon, I have been thinking about ways to show love and gratitude for all the Mama's in my life. I have always been a "send flowers" type, but have to admit feeling hesitant on delivery this year. Solution! Fingerprint Bouquets!
Project of the Day: Fingerprint Bouquets!
Materials:
- Paper
- Paint
- Construction Paper
- Felt
- Markers
Step One: Lay out your materials. I was running low on supplies this week and had to get creative. You can cutout vases and flowers from construction paper or even white paper. If you use white paper have the kiddos color everything in prior to assembling!
Step Two: This part is always fun! Friends of all ages love the feeling of sticky and cold paint on the palm of their hands. This is a wonderful way to memorialize their tiny handprints. At Christmas time, my Mum still hangs a framed handprint wreath I made 27 years ago..proof these projects stick around!
Step Three: Assemble. The paint acts as a glue; however, you can use wet or hot glue to fasten if you would like it to be more secure.
Step Four: I had some pom-poms around as well and made another version. I prefer the cut out flowers, but the fun is in the discovery. How do your kiddos see or imagine the flowers? Placing the pom-poms or flowers is a good motor-skill development exercise for younger friends!
Step Five: With several elements, the kiddos can do as much or as little as they would like in the way of decorating. The yellow paint had seeped through my vase, so I took a few minutes to add some decorative pipe-cleaners. See where their interests lay. Most important direction, as always: HAVE FUN!
More resources to follow in the coming days. Feedback and more ideas welcome! Above all, be well and stay healthy!
